Chalkie Davies : the NME Years

MK-02-Lemmy-Kilmister-lo

An excellent exhibition of rock photographs by local boy Chalkie Davies (He is actually from Sully, which is near enough to Cardiff) has just opened at the National Museum in Cardiff.

Back in the 70s and 80s, Chalkie lived the life and photographed many of the greats, including Bowie, the Stones, the Ramones and Ian Dury. He worked for the NME and went on to design many classic album covers, and even shared a house with Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy.

This is a great collection and much too good to miss. The Fear & Loathing and Essential Cardiff walking tours all start at the steps to the National Museum so, no excuses, it is easy to call in and see the exhibition before a tour.
